Under Canvas Yellowstone + A Giveaway

I wanted to write this post because I think Under Canvas is the coolest thing to happen to the “hotel” world in a long time, and everyone needs to know about it!

I also wanted to write this because I got so much hate on Instagram about how no one believed I would last one night in a tent. I put up a poll, and 90% of you didn’t think I stayed in a tent. Jokes on y’all because I did. It was a freakin’ blast, and I slept like a baby!

Under Canvas is up-scale camping or some may call it glamping. They have a ton of locations throughout the US all in National Parks. I’m dying to check them all out!

Their other locations include:

• Moab
• Zion
• Mount Rushmore
• Grand Canyon
• Glacier
• Great Smoky Mountains

So the tent situation is pretty rad.

All tents include real beds, night lights, wood stove because the nights get chilly. Some include a private bathroom (shower, sink, toilet) inside the tent while the others have a shared bathroom within walking distance from your tent. There are so many options you can choose from. Some of the tents sleep up to 7 people!

Not only do you get all of these luxury amenities in your tent, but there is also a great restaurant on property & breakfast is included in your stay!

Now, this may sound like full on glamping, but some real camp things happen too!

First of all, we were not allowed to bring our toiletries into our tents due to the grizzly bear activity that had been around the area for a few days. A-okay with me- bears are so freakin’ cool to look at from a very very far distance, but I don’t want one breaking into my tent while I’m sleeping.

The wood stove is also something that is more “camp-like.” It gets freezing at night in Yellowstone. I’m talking lows in the 30s to even mid-20s sometimes, so the wood stove is necessary.

Funny story about the wood stove… One of the employees walked us to our room to show us how the lights worked, told us we couldn’t bring our toiletries, etc. all the things you need to know. So, she showed Layne and me how to start the fire, and I was staring at her and Layne like “GIIIIRL, yeah I got this.” Shaking my head like I was the leader of my girl scouts troop (FYI I was not a girl scout) As soon as she left, I looked at Layne and said, “I hope you paid attention; otherwise we’re gonna freeze to death tonight.”

Just in case y’all were wondering, Layne did indeed know how to start the fire and we slept nice and cozy warm all night! So many good laughs, making s’mores by the campfire, cracking jokes about sleeping in a tent “roughing it” but my fav was walking to the bathroom at night thinking a bear or another scary wild animal was going to pop out at any moment. lolz

Under Canvas will plan day trips for you too! In Yellowstone, some of the trips including, fly fishing, whitewater rafting, guided tours, horseback riding. The list goes on & on. Did I mention the Yellowstone camp is right off the Madison River, so you can walk down to the river to swim and hang out!

I checked out some of the things you can do at their other camps, and it all looks fantastic. I’m already planning which camp I want to go to next. I’m thinking either Moab or Zion.
