Last Year, I launched the beauty section of MBL with Skin Care Must-Haves for 2018 & it was a hit, so I decided to do the same thing for 2019!
Now that I have my acne under control (for the most part) I really want to focus on an anti-aging skincare routine this year. All of these products are great for anti-aging and acne + two of these must-haves are repeats from last year because they are THAT GOOD!
1. LightStim For Acne
LED light therapy is all the rage right now, whether it’s for anti-aging or acne and can I say this has changed my life. I haven’t been shy about my struggle with acne (check out this post if you haven’t read it) & this LED light has helped me so much! How it works: The red and blue LED lights kill the bacteria under the skin that causes acne & also helps reduce the inflammation of existing acne. For real people, if you struggle with acne give this a try. It is worth every penny!
It also helps reduce the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles (:
Neutrogena makes a cheaper version & I’ve heard great things about this one as well! Shop that one here
2. NuFace Facial Toning Kit
This tool stimulates your facial muscles using microcurrents for firmer skin. It is said to reduce wrinkles, improve facial contours and brighten skin tone for a smoother, softer complexion. My mom and I have both been using this tool for a year, and we can tell the difference! My complexion is brighter, it’s helped the appearance of my acne, and my skin feels a lot more firm.

3. Retinol
Retinol is a type of vitamin A that speeds up cellular renewal to improve the tone and texture of your complexion. Retinol also repels free-radicle damage that ages your skin. Plus boosts collagen production to aid in turning over cells to reveal healthier looking skin!
It’s a powerhouse for all things anti-aging and doesn’t take long at all to start seeing effects!
Note that your skin might peel when you start using this. It’s normal, and you can also start using it every other day if it gets to be too much. Also, I cannot stress enough how much you need to wear sunscreen during the day even if you’re not in the direct sunlight. Well, you need to wear sunscreen every day no matter what but you really really need to wear sunscreen when using retinol.
4. Gua Sha
Pronounced [Gwa Sha]: A traditional East Asian Medicine. It’s a massage technique designed to relieve tension in the muscles of the face, boost blood circulation and stimulate lymphatic drainage to banish bloat (no more puffy face)!
I just bought my Gua Sha tool over the weekend and have been using it every day. I watched this video to learn how to do it correctly.
Y’all, in the video, when she tells you to check in once you’re done with once one side to see how much different it looks… holy shit, this thing is magic. I have a slim, defined radiant face after- shook to the max.
Doing this takes time, so I do it at night + it’s super relaxing and winds me down before I go to sleep.
Hope y’all enjoyed this! Let me know what your favorite beauty products are in the comments below!
