Playing with Texture + Intentions for 2018

January 4, 2018
First post of 2018 woah!!!! I can’t believe 2017 is already over, this year flew by. I hope everyone had a lovely New Year!

I love new beginnings! Whether it’s a new job, new house, or some new shoes, it’s always a great time to reset your goals & achievements from the year before.

This past year has been a total rollercoaster for me- I graduated college in 3 1/2 years, worked and lived-in a foreign country for 4 months, crossed Coachella off my bucket list (this is now a yearly thing), traveled Europe ALONE, turned my parents/ best friends into roommates even if it’s only for a few more months, grew closer to my friends (didn’t think this was possible) and actively becoming a more “open” person- this is HUGE for me. I’m super private and don’t really express my achievements or failures to anyone and I’m trying to work on it!

I hate the word resolution. We only seem to use it in the new year and we rarely follow through with our resolutions. The biggest difference between Resolutions and Intention is that resolutions are focused on “doing,” where intentions are focused on “being.” When you set goals and become focused you should check in with yourself often to make sure you are on the right track & it will eventually become part of your lifestyle.

With that being said, here are some of my intentions for 2018:

• have a set posting schedule for MBL of Sunday and Thursday- sign up for my newsletter to stay updated on all things MBL

• build my resume

• talk on the phone more often

• remain positive through stress

• Write more often. Everyone loves getting mail & I think sending a personal thank you note is way more meaningful than a text.

• read more, watch TV less

• be more accepting of change

• put myself out there

• practice gratitude daily. I’m trying this Five Minute Journal

Here are 3 tips for help you stick to your goals:

1. write down your intentions

2. hold yourself accountable

3. surround yourself with people that encourage you

Black Leather Skirt | Satin Crop Top | Blazer | Blazer | Velvet Boots

Onto The Outfit:

Playing with textures is so fun! This vintage wool blazer is everything my winter wardrobe had been missing. I stole it from my mom (shhhh don’t tell her), bless her for keeping all of her classic pieces from back in the day. This leather skirt is a DREAM, and did I mention it’s well under $100? Quite a steal and it goes with everything- like this satin crop top with button details.

Don’t be afraid to mix and match colors and textures. 99.9% of the time it comes out looking so chic & it takes little effort. WIN WIN

I would love to hear some of your intentions for 2018! Let me know in the comments below!

Check back on Sunday for a new post ?
