Launching MBL Beauty + 5 Beauty Must-Haves For 2018

January 7, 2018

Ah, the beauty section of MBL has launched, and I’m so freakin’ excited about it. I am obsessed with makeup, skin care, & hair. Give me all the things that make me glow-y and beautiful.

A small backstory as to why beauty & skin care is my JAM:

I was a competitive dancer for 12 years and at around 8 years old, my mom and I would fight so much when she was doing my makeup & hair for competitions that she finally said, “screw you, Sarah, you do it all yourself.” So, I did just that. Not to toot my own horn, but I was really good at it even at just 8 years old. I got complimented by my coaches and all the older dancers at how nice my makeup and hair looked. Let’s just say Julie was not please. And that started my love for all things beauty >> fast forward to about 2 years ago when I began to struggle with adult acne and my love for all things skin care and anti-aging commenced!

With all that said, here are some of my favorite skincare & beauty must-haves to start using this year!

1. NuFace Facial Toning Kit

Calling all anti-aging freaks!! This tool stimulates your facial muscles using microcurrents for firmer skin. It is said to reduce wrinkles, improve facial contours and brighten skin tone for a smoother, softer complexion. My mom and I have both been using this every day for about 3 weeks and we can both tell the difference. My complexion is definitely brighter, it’s helped the appearance of my acne, and my skin feels a lot more firm.

2. Ice Roller

My girls The Skinny Confidential & Payton Sartain posted about this a few years ago, and I had to try it out. Every morning it’s inevitable that I wake up with a super puffy face, like puffier than the average human- I blame it on my food allergies & my effed up jaw (more on both of these things in another post.) So, every morning I grab my ice roller out of the freezer and run it over my face for a few minutes and BOOM no more puffy face. You could easily run an ice cube over your face, but the ice roller is so much better because you don’t get all that water over your face!

3. LightStim for acne

LED light therapy is all the rage right now, whether it’s for anti-aging or acne and can I say this has changed my life. No joke, as I said earlier for the past 2 or so years, I’ve really struggled with adult acne, and the LED lights have helped me so much! How it works: The red and blue LED lights kill the bacteria under the skin that causes acne & also helps reduce the inflammation of existing acne. For real people, if you struggle with acne give this a try. It is worth every penny!

Neutrogena makes a cheaper version & I’ve heard great things about this one as well!

4. Mario Badescu Rose Water Spray:

So hydrating & refreshing. I use it twice a day, once in the morning after my makeup routine and once at night after washing my face and moisturizing! Let me also say it smells AMAZING and makes me feel so fancy.

5. Clinique Vitamin C System:

My aesthetician has told me to start incorporating vitamin C into my skincare routine to help with hyperpigmentation from acne scars and the Clinique’s 7-day Vitamin C boost is the one she suggested. I use this every night for 7 days, and my acne scars have faded tremendously. I’ll definitely be using this every month or so!

Cheers to better skin in 2018! What are some of your favorite skin care products? Let me know in the comments below.
