I like to plan all aspects of my life. Some may say I’m OCD and slightly controlling, but I would disagree (imagine that). I always need to know what the plan is, when it’s happening, and I would appreciate it if I knew at least a day in advance. Is that too much to ask?! Don’t get me wrong, I love spontaneity as much as the next person as long as I know before hand… hehe (:
Oh BTW this post is launching the new LIFE section of MBL! Most of my friends would say I’m the most organized 23 year old they know, so I wanted to share some of my organizational secrets and tips for the first post of the Life section… more secrets will come later! This post is all about how I stay productive & organized every single day because let’s get real, it drives me NUTZ if I’m not doing something productive every single day and this is what works best for me. If your life is a little chaotic from day to day (ehhm you know who you are) then I really hope this helps you get your shit together or at least, slightly together!

Now onto the goods!
1. I use a 12-month Day Planner:
I know so many people are switching to electronic calendars, but I love being able to have my schedule in my hands and on paper. I occasionally use google calendars if something comes up suddenly, but for everything else, I use my Erin Condren Life Planner.

2. Keep your planner with you at all times:
this planner is the perfect size, so I throw it in my purse whenever I leave the house. When I’m out running and think of something I need to do it’s super easy to jot things down and add them to the list.
3. Make daily lists from ‘most important’ to ‘least important’:
I learned this trick from my parents. Every night before I go to bed I write down everything I want to get done for the next day and cross things off as I go. Anything that doesn’t get finished just carries over to the next day. So easy!
4. Prioritize your goals and hold yourself accountable:
When you write down your goals, you are 2x more likely to accomplish them. Whether you have weekly, monthly, or yearly goals jot them down where you see them throughout the week! There’s an awesome spot at the beginning of each month in the EC planner to write all this down.
5. Take Breaks:
If you keep pushing through your workweek without breaks, you’ll lose creativity and motivation. Make time to sit outside for lunch, get up and walk around, re-organize your desk… whatever it is, it’s more than okay, it’s beneficial to take a 5 or 10-minute break!
6. Reward yourself:
You need to reward yourself throughout the work week, or you’ll end up hating work. I’m not saying go out and buy something every day or anything like that, but find ways to make your job “fun.” Set up lunch meetings instead of meeting in the office, listen to your favorite music or podcast, take yourself out to lunch, sign up for a fun workout class after work. Whatever it is, make bits of your workweek fun!
